An aging biomarker and its loss-of-function mutant in D. melanogaster

I came across this interesting paper on vertebrate Apolipoprotein D, a biomarker for some nervous system pathologies, especially during aging, and its homolog in Drosophila melanogaster, glial lazarillo.

Loss-of-function Drosophila mutants for the Glial Lazarillo (GLaz) gene show reduced restistance to oxidative stress and a sex-specific effect on lifespan: only mutant males, not females, live shorter.
